In the post-Brexit world, Irish traders have been substantially exposed to the world of customs and trade obligations. The latest annual report from Revenue[1] showed a significant increase in the number of import declarations filed, from 40.2 million in 2022 to 50.3 million in 2023. In an even starker contrast, the number of import declarations filed in 2020 (before the UK left the European Union on 1 January 2021) was just over 1 million.[2]
