As tax jurisdictions work to keep pace with the rate at which the digital economy is evolving, and seek alternative means of raising revenues, they are looking to tax revenues earned from certain online activities. Owing to the failure to agree on a coordinated approach to taxing these revenues at international and European Union level, individual jurisdictions are looking ever more closely at the introduction of a digital services tax (DST) or its equivalent.
