On 23 March 2022 the UK Chancellor delivered his 2022 Spring Statement. The UK Government’s tendency in recent years has been towards the Spring Statement being “light” on tax policy matters, with any significant announcements or reforms being reserved for the main UK Budget event in the rebranded guise of the Autumn Statement. However, as in spring 2020 and 2021, some immediate economic fine-tuning reforms needed to be addressed. Unsurprisingly, Rishi Sunak promised a fuller course of tax incentives to be announced this autumn.
